General Notes: Husband - Robert Zuendel Gillespie

He received his primary education in the district school, which was supplemented by a finishing course at Edinboro State Normal. He immediately adopted the profession of teaching which he followed until I889, when he took a business course at Titusville Business College. Upon first going to the district of Kellettville, he taught school and later kept books for the firm of Horton, Johnson & Co., the large tanners of that place, remaining in their employ for a period of five years. He resigned at the close of that time to accept a more lucrative position with T. D. Collins, who was well-known as the best lumberman in Forest County, and was the proprietor of the Salmon Creek Lumber Company.
Mr. Gillespie had previously gained experience in his father's lumber mills, and accepted his present position in 1894. He made a thorough study of the lumber business and was one of the best posted lumber men in the district. He kept careful accounts, did general clerical work in connection with railroad business, as well as being telegraph operator.
Like his father, he was an earnest Republican. He served as justice of the peace, and as census enumerator. When only twenty-one years of age he was elected to fill the important position of township auditor, and in 1891 was elected county auditor. He was a member of the M. E. Church, being trustee, steward, and class leader in that church. He was a member and past master of Olive Lodge, No. 557, F. & A. M., and past grand of Tionesta Lodge, No. 369, I. O. O. F.

General Notes: Wife - Alma P. Hoyt
