He emigrated from England to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630, and was the progenitor of the branch of the Gifford family in America here traced. While there are many who will controvert this statement, there are many others who accept the fact that Walter Gifford was the son of Sir Ambrose, and the father of William.
