General Notes: Husband - John W. Giffin

He was born in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and was educated in the log-cabin subscription schools of Fayette township. He married and they settled in Fayette township. In 1874 he bought an improved farm of 111 acres adjoining Venice, Washington County, where he carried on general farming, and on which was an oil well. Politically he was first a Whig, and became a member of the Republican party at its organization; served as supervisor, member of the school board, assessor and in various other offices of public trust. He was a member of the U. P. Church at Venice.
