General Notes: Husband - George B. Alter

---

He was educated in the public schools of Plum township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in which his entire life was spent. He was an influential farmer, owning two hundred and thirty acres of land, which he commenced cultivating in young manhood. He was a Republican in politics, and a most active member of the Presbyterian church, in which he was an elder for many years, and sang in the choir for a period of forty years.
