General Notes: Husband - William Oesterling
He was three years old when his father settled on the farm at Carbon Center, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he still resides, and there the child grew to youth and manhood. When he was twenty-one years old he began work in the oil fields as a driller and as such was employed in Armstrong, Butler and Allegheny Counties. For about ten years he was in partnership with his brother, in oil contracting, and long continued his interest in the oil business. In 1894 he purchased a farm from his father and moved on the place in the fall of 1895. In 1898 he erected a large frame residence, selling the one he had built in 1895, to the B. R. & P. Railroad. There was another house standing on the farm, which he rented out.
