He was educated in the public schools and at the Chambersburg Academy. He was local editor of the Public Opinion under his father, 1886-99, and under J. M. Runk, and Runk & Hoke, 1899-1903. He was a Past Chancellor, Kearney Lodge, K. of P., and a member of the Elks Lodge, No. 600.
