Accompanied by his family, he started for the United States in September, 1837. They were shipwrecked and cast on the Bermuda Islands, where they remained three months, then reached the United States. They located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1840, and settled a little later in Unionville, Beaver County, where he spent the remainder of his days.
