General Notes: Husband - David B. Fisher
He resided with his father in the latter's house until his marriage, which occurred in 1875. He then removed to the farm of W. H. Barnhart, and for twenty-three years operated that place which was situated near Hannastown. It was here that his first wife died in 1895. In 1899 he purchased the home farm, upon which he had been born, and resided there. Later he maintained a home in Mount Pleasant, and for some years rented his farm. For a long time Mr. Fisher was actively engaged in breeding cattle on this farm, making a specialty of the short-horn variety, and he was regarded as an authority on agricultural matters generally throughout that part of the state. He was a Democrat in politics, and in 1916 was his party's candidate for the Legislature. In spite of the normally strong Republican majority, he was defeated by only one hundred and twenty-seven votes. He made a strong and active campaign and took his stand on the anti-liquor plank, which made him popular among his fellow-citizens. Even in his later years Mr. Fisher visited his farm almost daily, superintending personally much of the work and keeping all the farm buildings in a state of good repair as well as making new improvements there.
Like his ancestors before him, Mr. Fisher was a member of the Reformed church and attended St. John's Church of that denomination, of which he was an elder.
