General Notes: Husband - William H. Gardner
He was reared on the farm and received the educational advantages afforded by the schools of the vicinity; later, he attended Bloomfield Academy, in Perry County. After marriage he and his wife began house-keeping on the old family homestead, one-quarter mile east of York Springs Borough. The place consisted of about 150 acres greatly improved, with good residence, fine grounds and outbuildings. In politics, Mr. Gardner was a Republican. He took an active interest in the educational and other public enterprises, and he and his wife were members of the Lutheran Church at York Springs.
