Center Twp, Butler Co, PA
He came with his parents to Pennsylvania in 1852, and to Butler County two years afterward. He received a common school education, and was engaged in farming from early boyhood. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church, and was an elder and treasurer in that organization. Politically, he was a Republican, and held many of the offices in his township.
