General Notes: Husband - Capt. John Gallup

---

He was born in England, and came to America in 1633 with his mother and her other children. He won renown by his bravery against the Indian foes of the colony; had large grants of land, and in 1654 moved with his family to the east side of the Mystic river, now Stonington, Connecticut. He was a representative from 1665 to 1667. He was engaged with his company in the Great Swamp Fight, December 19, 1675, and was one of the six captains who fell in that memorable battle, leading their men.
