General Notes: Husband - W. Ogden Tillotson

In January, 1866, W. Ogden Tillotson, senior member of Tillotson Bros., came from New York state to Greenville, Pennsylvania, and bought the dry goods stock of Simon Donner, which occupied a room in Packard's Commercial Block. In 1867 his brother, Norton E., came to Greenville to assist him, and the stock was removed to a frame room which stood on the site of Reiss & Son's tobacco store. In 1868 Norton E. obtained an interest in the business, and the firm of Tillotson Bros. was formed. In the extensive fire which occurred in Greenville January 15, 1873, the store of Tillotson Bros. was among those destroyed, and they immediately erected a brick building later occupied by Reiss & Son. They carried on business in that room till the erection, in 1881-82, of another block, which they took possession of in the latter year. [HMC 1888, 830]
