General Notes: Husband - John Fickett
He was at Black Point (Maine?) in 1652. It is supposed that he came from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and that his home lot of six acres was near the present Scarboro Beach Railway station. He was a farmer, hunter and fisherman, making short voyages. His home at Scarboro was broken up by the Indian war of 1675-76, but he returned after the cessation of hostilities. It is said that he married Abigail, daughter of John Libby, of Scarboro; but the records of that town do not show that John Libby had a daughter of this name. The name "Jean Fickett" appears as one of the signers of a petition to the general court of Massachusetts, February 20, 1689-90, asking protection from Indians; he was then supposed to reside at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. One "John Fickett" was "Prest" at Exeter, New Hampshire, in 1696, to fight Indians; it may have been the one here considered, or his son.
