General Notes: Husband - Dr. John M. Nelson

After completing the curriculum of the district schools he attended high school in the basement of the local United Presbyterian church, and for two terms attended school at North Liberty, Pennsylvania. For several terms he was a student in the Grove City College, and for eighteen months he read medicine under the able preceptorship of Dr. J. P. Sproull, of Grove City. He was graduated, with the degree of Doctor of Medicine, from the Western Reserve University, at Cleveland, Ohio, February 27, 1884. He initiated the active practice of his profession at Jackson Center, in Mercer County, and for three years was resident physician and surgeon at East Brook, in Lawrence County. For five years thereafter he maintained his home and business headquarters in Rimersburg, and removed thence to Greenfield, in Mercer County, remaining in the latter place for a period of fifteen years. In the fall of 1907 he returned to Rimersburg, in Clarion County, and there controled an extended and lucrative practice. Dr. Nelson was an ardent supporter of the Republican party in his political convictions, and while he has never had time for active participation in public affairs he was ever ready to do his share in furthering progress and prosperity in his home county.
