General Notes: Husband - Samuel McFarland

---

He emigrated to America about the year 1793, first living in or about Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, then coming to Washington County, Pennsylvania, and settling in Smith township about the year 1800. On April 6, 1804, he bought 159 acres of land of Thomas Glass, and on September 3, of the same year, purchased 102 acres of Ephraim Chidester. He settled on the former piece of land, and his family were all born and reared there. The farm remained in the family name until about the year 1890, when the heirs of his son Thomas sold it to Maxiel Work.
