General Notes: Husband - George Hays Foster
He resided at West Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
He began life as a farmer and during the Civil War enlisted in the One Hundred and Thirty-ninth Regiment, Company B, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted in 1861 and served three years as a noncommissioned sergeant. He was wounded at the battle of the Wilderness. After the war he returned to Armstrong County, where he engaged in farming until 1890, when he was elected county treasurer and served three years, after which he retired from active business.
He was an ardent supporter of the Republican party, and served as county appraiser and court viewer. He belonged to the Grand Army of the Republic, and served as its first commander. Mr. and Mrs. Foster were devout members of the Presbyterian Church.
