Eda Kenyon was born in Felicity, Ohio, September 16th, 1867 and was the ninth of 12 children in the Volney and Lucinda Kenyon family. Nine years of her girlhood was spent in this little city in Ohio after which she moved with her parents to a farm in Tama County, March 1876. In September her parents moved to Grundy Center where better educational privileges were available and which place continued to be her home until two years after her marriage to George Clifford Allison, September 21, 1887, when they moved to Peterson, Iowa. There they lived for 22 years where Mr. Allison was cashier of the Peterson bank.
They returned to Grundy Center in 1912 as her husband had been elected vice president of the Grundy County National Bank. Mr. Allison's death occurred January 17, 1935 and Mrs. Allison continued her home in Grundy Center where she has been active in church, social and club affairs.
She became a member of the Congregational church in Peterson and in Grundy Center she was very active in the Baptist church until her fading health would not permit longer service. She was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star in Peterson and a State Grand Officer in the year Mrs. Herbert Beckman was a Grand Matron, a member of the Past Worthy Matrons club and the P. E. O. Sisterhood.
She was the mother of four boys; one having died in Infancy and another at the age of 4 years and two living, Theodore M. of Waterloo, Iowa and Clifford Bertram of Ft. Worth Texas. There are two grandchildren, Ted Jr. and Patricia.
Mrs. Cora Kenyon McGuire, her sister, has been a vigilant nurse through all this sickness with the loving assistance of the other remaining sister, Mrs. Oma Kenyon King and the two sons, Theodore and Bertram, until Mrs. Allison's death Wednesday morning, February 9th, 1949, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, 20 days.
Mrs. Allison's last rites were held at the Coffman Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. L. Pace officiating.
Mrs. Allison's two sons and families Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Mason, wife and son Ted of Waterloo, Iowa, Clifford Bertram, wife and daughter, Patricia of Ft. Worth, Texas, and a niece Ora Kenyon Struthers of Ottosen, Iowa, were the out of town relatives present. Weather and road conditions made it impossible for others.
