Homer C. Exley
Homer C. Exley, 93, of Mendenhall Avenue, Knox, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 1996, in Allegheny Manor at Shippenville RD 1.
Born Aug. 31, 1902, at Knox RD 1, Beaver Township, he was a son of William and Elizabeth Eger Exley.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Exley worked for the Pennsylvania Electric Co. in Knox for 23 years, retiring in 1967. He also worked in the oil fields in earlier years and farmed most of his life.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and attending auctions.
Mr. Exley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Knox RD 2.
He was married July 11, 1936, to the former Helen T. Mong who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Alice E. Exley of Knox and Nancy I. Masek of Uniontown; a son-in-law, Ladd Masek of Uniontown; two grandsons, Kenny and Kevin Masek of Uniontown; one niece, three nephews and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were three brothers, Walter Exley, Harry Exley and John Exley, and two sisters, Mary Kaber and Edna Switzer.
Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and from noon until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday in the William N. Rupert Mortuary in Knox.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Rev. Dawson Tornes, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Paul's Union Cemetery at Knox RD 2.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Clarion-Forest Visiting Nurses Association in Knox or the Knox Area Ambulance Co.
