Katherine E. Exley, 79, of Rockland, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 2, 2004, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a short illness. Born April 4, 1925, in Rockland, she was the daughter of Perry and Katherine Finlan Welsby. She was a graduate of Rockland High School. Mrs. Exley was a member of the Rockland United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the Church. She was a home-maker and enjoyed sewing, camping, bike riding and working in her garden and spending time with her family and friends. She was married in Cooperstown May 23, 1943, to Clair Exley Sr. who survives. Also surviving are four sons and their wives, Clair O. Jr. and Marilyn Exley, William and Linda Exley and Mark and Bonnie Exley, all of Rockland, and Gregory and Claire Exley of Tewantin, Australia. 14 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, William Morrison of Balston Spa, N.Y. She is also survived by a sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Fred Kellner of Oil City. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Exley was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Morrison and a brother, Tom Welsby.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Osenider Funeral Home, Oil City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Shawn Goodwin, pastor of the Rockland United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery, Rockland.

Mr. and Mrs. Clair O. Exley Sr. of Rockland will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday with a wiener roast at the home of their son, William R. Exley of Rockland.
The party, open to friends and relatives, will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. and will be hosted by their children and grandchildren.
Clair Exley and the former Katherine Welsby were married May 23, 1943, in Cooperstown by Rev. Ross.
The couple are the parents of five children: William, Mark and Clair Exley Jr., all of Rockland; Greg Exley of Fertigs; and Kathy Morrison of Balsto Spa, N.Y. They have 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Exley is a homemaker and enjoys sewing and church activities. Her husband retired from J&L Steel and enjoys camping.

Mr. and Mts. Clair O. Exley Sr. of 363 Clairs Lane, Kennerdell, will mark their 60th wedding anniver­sary Friday, May 23.
The former Kather­ine E. Welsby and Clair Exley were mar­ried May 23, 1943, in Cooperstown by Rev. Ross. Mrs. Exley is the daughter of the late Perry and Kather­ine Welsby while her husband is the son of the late James and Minnie Exley.
Their children in­clude Clair Exley Jr. and wife, Marilyn, William J. Exley and wife, Linda, and Mark Exley and wife, Bon­nie, all of Kennerdell, Gregory Exley and wife, Claire, of Verri­erdale, Queensland, Australia, and Kathy Morrison and husband, William, of Ball­ston Spa, N.Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Exley have 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
They are members of the Rockland United Methodist Church.
Mr. Exley retired from J&L Steele and enjoys tinkering around the house. Mrs. Exley is a homemaker and enjoys sewing and church activities.
The couple especially enjoy side-by-side bicycle riding on their bicycle built for two and working in their flower garden.
A celebration will be held at a later date.
