General Notes: Husband - John Shaw
His education was obtained in the common schools. For a number of years he was a farmer, and in 1882 went to Wooster, Ohio. Later he spent three or four years in Greeley, Colorado, being engaged in the elevator business with his brother-in-law, James L. Ewing. He returned to Wooster for a short time and then came back to Irwin, Pennsylvania, where he resumed his agricultural pursuits for a few years, and then entered the butter business, which he continued for the remainder of his life. He was for many years a Republican, but latter voted with the Prohibition party. During his residence in Wooster, Ohio, he was made an elder in the United Presbyterian church.
