He was born in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and going to Jefferson County as a child, remained there until 1872, being for many years engaged in farming and lumbering. His health failed in his later years, and he removed to Limestone township, Clarion County, and then to the vicinity of Strattanville, in that county.
