General Notes: Husband - John Christman Fox

He attended the rural schools of his day. He followed farming for several years in East Huntingdon, Mount Pleasant and North Huntingdon townships, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. In 1864 he removed to Sewickley township, where he owned a farm of one hundred and twenty-two acres.
He was an old-line whig, then a republican and later became a prohibitionist, but he was no politician. He and his entire family were members of the United Brethren church, in which he served as Sunday-school superintendent and was class leader and steward. Mr. Fox was a good business man, settled up several estates and was school director of Mars Hill Independent School district for fifteen years.
