Greene Twp, Franklin Co, PA

At the age of sixteen he left home to learn the cabinet-maker's trade at Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. He located in Fayetteville in the spring of 1846, and there followed his trade until 1882. In 1865 he also engaged in mercantile business, which he followed until about 1881, conducting both businesses at the same time, but then led a retired life in the village.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Politically he was a Democrat.
