General Notes: Husband - George W. Espy
He came from Fayette County, Pennsylvania, to Crawford County in 1802, and took up a tract of 400 acres in Shenango Township where Espyville now stands, which derived its name from him. He built the first grist-mill in what is now North Shenango Township, also the first saw-mill; was in the milling business for many years. He also operated a distillery.
He served in Capt. McQuoin's company, Col. Green's battalion, Lancaster County militia, in the Revolutionary War. See Pennsylvania Archives, Second Series, Vol. 13, p. 320.
