He was employed in the sheet mill at Scottdale, Pennsylvania, and belonged to Arpod Commandery, No. 342, Knights of Malta, of Scottdale, and the Maccabees.
He was educated in the grade and high schools. After a brief experience as a mercantile clerk, he entered the employ of the American Sheet and Tin Plate Company, at Scottdale, becoming an expert "roller." He was a member of the Arpod Commandery, No. 342, Knights of Malta; Knights of the Maccabees; the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was a Republican in politics, and a member of the United Brethren church.
