General Notes: Husband - Matthew Forsythe

He was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools and later took a course at the academy. He assisted his father in the various departments of his business, and after his father's death assumed charge of the estate. He subsequently removed with his mother and family to the old homestead farm, where they first dwelt in a small log house. Soon he built a large log house and barn, and later a large frame barn, and a large and convenient brick house. With his brother's assistance, he made extensive improvements on another tract of land belonging to their father's estate, where the family of Jacob V. Sigler later resided; and in 1850, he built a large and convenient house in which his grandson later lived.
