General Notes: Husband - George F. Kamerer
He was educated in the common and high schools of Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, to which place he accompanied his parents when seven years of age. When sixteen years old, he entered the employ of M. C. Roberts and C. J. Achre, druggists, and remained with them three years and a half, after which he was connected with J. L. Caldwell in the Opera House drug store until he was nineteen years of age. In 1878 he became a partner with Mr. Caldwell, the style of the firm being Caldwell & Kamerer of the "City Drug Store." After four years Mr. Kamerer purchased his partner's interest and continued alone until 1894, when he moved his stock across the street. He then carried on his drug trade in the McCafferty block until 1906, when he sold to J. L. Griffin, and in April, 1907, opened what was later popularly known as the "Bessemer Pharmacy." With the exception of six months Mr. Kamerer was continuously in business beginning at sixteen years of age until his death. Politically, he was of the Democratic party and in lodge affiliations was connected with the Elks and Knights of Pythias, being a member of Custer Lodge, No. 469, of the last mentioned society.
