Mrs. Amanda Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Amanda Fitzgerald, of El Segundo, Cal., passed away on Saturday evening, July 21st.
Before her marriage Mrs. Fitzgerald was Amanda Van Fleet and was born in Unionville, N. Y., on August 21, 1835. She was married to Mr. Fitzgerald on January 1, 1862, and the first years of her married life were spent in Franklin, later moving to Galloway. She moved to Rocky Grove in 1900 and to California in 1914. Her husband died on July 27, 1887, and her oldest son, Frederick J., died March 4, 1918, and her youngest great-grand-daughter, Edna Mae, daughter of Arnold Fitzgerald, formerly of Reno and Rocky Grove, died on April 13, 1923.
She is survived by the following sons: Charles W., of San Fernando; Andrew V., of Whittier, Cal.; John O., of El Segundo and James V., of Coalings, Cal. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of California.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian church, of this city. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 24th, at Inglewood, where interment took place the services being conducted by Rev. C. J. Olson, pastor of the Methodist church at El Segundo.
The pallbearers were: Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Gunn, S. B. Patterson, William Krimmel, Claude Manson and James Wilson, the last four named being friends and neighbors of the family at Rocky Grove.
