General Notes: Husband - John Slonecker Eicher

He was one of the best auctioneers in the county and a leading democrat in politics; he was elected treasurer of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in 1869. This was the only time he ever offered himself as a candidate for an office.

His educational advantages were very limited, and although he had no trade or profession, was a very handy man, and for many years was known as the best auctioneer in Westmoreland County. Prior to the Civil war he served as fifer for five or ten years in the state militia. In his day he was a factor of considerable importance in the Democratic party, and held the office of treasurer of Westmoreland County during the years 1869-70. He was a Campbellite in religion.
In 1856 he moved to Washington County, Iowa, but after a residence there of twenty months returned to Pennsylvania.
