General Notes: Husband - Rev. Adam C. Shaw

He attended school at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and took a course at Meadville College, after his graduation becoming a minister of the M. E. Church. Some time later he withdrew from the Methodist ministry to engage with the Lutheran denomination, with which he was connected until his death. He traveled from Erie, Pennsylvania, throughout that and other eastern states as a colporteur, selling missionary literature, and continued in this work until his demise, which occurred when he was just thirty-three years old. He was a man of strong convictions and high ideals, an ardent abolitionist, and a sincere religious worker.
