General Notes: Husband - Joseph G. Strickler

He attended the public school, and grew to manhood at the old farm first purchased by his father. When Jacob Strickler purchased the Oglivee farm, Joseph G. became manager of the homestead, continuing seventeen years. In October, 1901, he bought a tract of eighty-four acres in Franklin township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, part of the old Henry Snyder farm. In 1902 he moved to this farm on which he resided until his death. He also owned eight hundred acres of Texas land and one hundred and fifty acres of West Virginia coal land. He was a Democrat in politics, serving three terms as school director. He belonged with his wife to the Presbyterian church. He was a hard working, energetic man, very strong and hearty, but died very suddenly.
