She was a graduate of Kane high school, Kane, Pennsylvania; for two years she studied music at the conservatory, Oberlin, Ohio, and then went to the Warren Conservatory of Music, from which she graduated; she became a teacher of vocal music at Broaddus Institute, Philippi, Barbour County, West Virginia.
