She was allegedly assaulted when she was in her mid-teens and was in and out of Warren State School for the mentally ill the remainder of her life. A family member recalls, "I remember Andrew and Annie, when he was about 18 or 20, and she was home from the hospital after a "spell." He was a tall, nice-looking, friendly, young man; Annie always wore a stocking cap pulled down on her head and a big coat, summer or winter. She was very fearful and would try to hide behind her father when they came to visit my grandparents."
