He was born in York County, Pennsylvania, came to Washington County when a boy, and, locating on a farm in Mt. Pleasant township, passed the remainder of his life there. [CBRWC, 372]

After his marriage to Ann Duncan, he removed to Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and re­mained on a farm in that county until his death. [CBRWC, 990]
