Native of Schuylkill County, PA. [HVC 1890, 1076] Born in Germany and came to America in 1833. [HVC 1879, 591]

He was an early settler of Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Cranberry township, Venango County, in 1859.

He settled at Cranberry, in Venango County, Pennsylvania, as a boy, and who during the major portion of his active career was a hotel keeper on the old macadamized pike. He and his wife were members of the Baptist church.
