He purchased the farm which had been owned by his father, and in addition to managing this he was occupied with the weaving of coverlids. He was very successful in both enterprises. He lived for many years at Clinton, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, having held office there. He was a Democrat and a member of the United Presbyterian church.
