He was a carpenter and farmer.

In 1797 he started from Gloucester, Rhode Island, for the west, settled in New York state, and became a successful woolen manufacturer. In 1858 he was of Mt. Upton, New York.

He died in Fredonia, Chautauqua County, New York. [GPHAV, 111]
