General Notes: Husband - Frederick Hetrick

He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, and located in Jefferson County when a young man, securing a farm on Little Sandy. In 1862 he sold his property there and went to Nebraska, buying a farm in Washington County, that state, where he had two sons living. There his death occurred. [Another source: he spent his last days in Kansas.]

He was the second settler in what is now Polk township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, coming in 1838. Mr. Hetrick was one of the prominent men of his day in that locality.

In 1826 he lived at Coder Dam, just west of Brookville, Pennsylvania, where he was elected a county commissioner that year. In 1834, 1836 and 1839 he was appointed road viewer by the courts of Jefferson County. In 1830 he was a candidate for sheriff, but lost by a vote, the returns being 130 and 129. Soon after this he moved just west of what is now Summerville, where he was appointed and served several years as justice of the peace. In 1835 he moved to what is now Polk township. He and his brother Jacob were great hunters, killing many bears, wolves, deer, wildcats, foxes, and other wild beasts.
