General Notes: Husband - James A. McCalmont

He had early practical training in farm work on the parental homestead, and the tilling of the soil and the increase in the flocks and herds were subjects of his concern and interest throughout his life. He received a public school education and after completing his youthful studies engaged in agriculture and stock raising, besides dairying. After residing in Mt. Pleasant Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, for a number of years, he moved to Chartiers Township, and from there, in 1904, he came to a farm in Buffalo Township. This farm was 165 acres, where he successfully carried on general agriculture and raised good stock, including many head of sheep every year.
He and his wife were members of the North Buffalo United Presbyterian Church. He voted the Republican ticket and took an great interest in township affairs, and to men like him the excellence of the public schools was largely due. He was a useful and energetic member of the school board.
