General Notes: Husband - William S. Ramsey

He was born on the homestead in Jackson township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, receiving a common school education, and remaining with his parents until reaching his majority. He married and located on a farm, then in woodland and unimproved, and their first home, a log cabin, was still standing in 1895, close to the commodious residence erected in 1884.
In January, 1865, he enlisted in Company E, Seventy-eighth Pennsylvania Volunteers, attached to the Army of the Cumberland, and assigned on detached duty in Tennessee. He was honorably discharged in September, of the same year. Politically, he was a Democrat, and was a member of Capt. William Stewart Post, G. A. R., of Evans City. He and his wife were members of the Evans City United Presbyterian church.
