He was a railroad man for many years and at the time of his death was foreman in yards of the Kansas City and Southern Railway Co. He met his death by a pistol, fired by the hand of a drunken man, whose boy had been discharged some days previously by Mr. Dunmire. Mr. Dunmire had married a lady from Fort Worth, Texas, and was survived by his wife and a little daughter, who, reportedly, later resided in Texas.
