After marriage, he and his wife lived in Titusville, Pennsylvania, for a while and their first three children were born there. He and his family moved to Michigan where he worked in oil fields and later worked in the auto industry. He also worked as a deputy sheriff and an outpost guard at Tri-City Airport. He also was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary 1941 to 1945. He retired in 1955.
