General Notes: Husband - Harry Edgar Pollock

He was not yet ten years of age when his mother died. He was fourteen when his father moved with his family into the city. He attended the public schools of the borough of Washington, Pennsylvania and the Washington Business College, and on February 18, 1898, then being in his twentieth year, he began his long career of public service as a clerk in the office of the prothonotary in the courthouse in Washington. He served for two years under the incumbent and was retained in a deputy capacity by succeeding incumbents. In 1919 Mr. Pollock was elected prothonotary and in the following January entered upon the duties of that office for the term of four years. In 1923 he was reelected. He was an ardent republican and for years was regarded as one of the leaders of that party in the county. He was for six years the representative in the common council of the borough of East Washington.
He and his wife were members of the Second United Presbyterian church and were affiliated with the Washington County Golf and Country Club and the Nemacolin Country Club. Mr. Pollock had connection with the Bassett Club and was a thirty-second degree Scottish Rite and Knight Templar (York Rite) Mason and a Noble of the Mystic Shrine, affiliated with Syria Temple and the consistory at Pittsburgh, with Jacques de Molay Commandery No. 3 (Knights Templar) and with Washington Lodge No. 164, F. & A. M. He also was a member of the local lodge (No. 776) Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.
