General Notes: Husband - Rev. William Ewing, Ph.D.
He attended Washington College, graduating in 1842, then took a three-years course at the Western Theological Seminary. After completing his studies at the seminary he spent several years in Europe in study and travel, and on returning to Pennsylvania took his first charge at the “Chartiers Church,” of which he was the pastor for nineteen years. He was principal of the Canonsburg Academy for twelve years, being a very popular and influential citizen of that place. In politics he was a Republican, and in religious faith a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He was called to the pastorate of the Chartiers Presbyterian Church, (usually called the Hill Church), and, with his wife, settled in Canonsburg, Washington County, about four miles distant from the Quail homestead.
General Notes: Wife - Isabella McCormick Quail
She attended the Washington Female Seminary, while that institution was conducted by Mrs. Hanna, and graduated in the class of 1841.
