General Notes: Husband - Joseph Dixon
He was an early settler of what is now Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He was of a Scotch-Irish Presbyterian family, and an emigrant from the Cumberland valley. His tract in what is now Black-lick township adjoined the land of Samuel Dixon, the father of Mary Dixon, his daughter-in-law, and their tracts adjoined General Campbell's. He fought in the Indian wars.
He was forced to retreat from his land in what is now Black-lick township to Wallace's fort [Derry township, Westmoreland County?]. He purchased or "took up" a tract of land adjoining the fort tract, and died there. His son Joseph, and perhaps more of his children, were born there.
