He acquired his preparatory education in the public schools at Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania, graduating from high school in 1893. He followed with a course in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from which institution he was graduated in 1897 with the degree of bachelor of science in electrical engineering. In 1898, after a few months in the employ of the Metropolitan Street Railway Company, he became the electrical engineer for the International Hydraulic Company, in New York, an engineering corporation engaged in the development of water power and high tension electrical transmission systems. In May, 1903, he came to Oil City to serve as assistant to the chief engineer of the National Transit Company, where he found the variety of duties and frequent necessity for prompt decision invaluable in quickening his executive capacity as well as calling out all his mechanical ingenuity. In 1910 he made an advantageous change to an association with the United Natural Gas Company, of which he was a director and chief engineer in charge of the engineering and chemical departments, including all gas compressing stations and gasoline manufacturing plants. The demands of the position required unusual breadth of training and experience for their effective fulfillment, and Mr. Weymouth was equal to them and alive to the practically unlimited possibilities which science opened up in the practice of his profession in his chosen field of work. A close student, with a well grounded technical training, he helped much in applying sound scientific principles to the solution of engineering problems arising in the natural gas business, and contributed several engineering papers bearing on the subject to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was also a pioneer in the invention and development of orifice meters for measuring gases and liquids, and in the design and construction of plants for the extraction of gasoline from natural gas. He also secured patents on several scientific instruments used in this work. He was a director in the following companies: United Natural Gas Company, Pennsylvania Gas Company, Clarion Gas Company, Pennsylvania Oil Company, The Mars Company, and Meadville Gas & Water Company. He was a member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Natural Gas Association of America. Mr. Weymouth was thoroughly identified with local activities, and was particularly interested in the Second Presbyterian Church, in which he held membership; he was chairman of the music committee, and was the first president of the Parker Bible Class. Fraternally he was affiliated with Lock Haven Council, No. 932, Royal Arcanum. While at college he became a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity, was treasurer and president of his chapter at different times, and for several years after leaving college served on the executive council of the national organization. Like his father, he gave his political support to the Republican Party. [CAB, 594]
