General Notes: Husband - John Newlin Hall
From the age of six years he resided on the same farm in Howard township, Centre County, Pennsylvania. His literary education was obtained in the schools of Centre County and he became a farmer. A practical and skillful hunter, also, for forty years during the early history of the county, he engaged in hunting and trapping with remarkable success, killing many buffaloes, bears, deer, wild-cats, panthers, etc., and trapping one of the only two black wolves ever caught in the county.
Politically, Mr. Hall supported the men and measures of the Democratic party, and served his fellow citizens in several official positions. In 1874 he was elected county commissioner, and he was re-elected the following year for a three-years term. After faithfully serving for six years as school director, he retired from office in 1895, during which time he had been secretary of the board, and attended every meeting, 108 in all. For two years he was also overseer of the poor. Socially he was a member of the Grange at Howard, and religiously he held to the faith of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
