General Notes: Husband - Hiram J. Drake
He was reared on his father's farm, and attended the district schools. He married and they lived on the farm in Crawford County until April 1, 1877, when Mr. Drake entered mercantile business at Miller's Station. He established a store at Philipsville in August, 1879, and was appointed Postmaster. He carried a stock of dry goods, groceries and general merchandise. He was Postmaster at Brown Hill, Crawford County, from 1870 to 1877. He was a member of Cambridge Lodge, No. 901, I. O. O. F.; an energetic, enterprising merchant, and a Republican in politics. Mr. and Mrs. Drake were adherents of the Baptist Church.
