General Notes: Husband - George Senseny Eyster
When a young man in 1820, he went to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, to live and was employed as a clerk in one of the leading general merchandising stores of that period. He went into the store with the understanding that he was later to be made a partner if he gave satisfaction. Although he fulfilled faithfully all the requirements, his employer failed to keep his agreement, so Mr. Eyster started a business of his own and being a good manager who could speak the German language, he at once became successful and the leading merchant of Chambersburg, retaining that relation throughout a long and successful career.
