General Notes: Husband - John T. Doverspike
Clarion Co, PA
All the sons [of Jacob Daubenspeck] in Clarion and Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, allowed the neighbors to call them Doverspike.
Mention of John Doverspike as a resident in 1816 on land in what is now Mahoning township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, is found, and he was a taxpayer in that township in 1817. But there is nothing regarding the date of his advent in this county or township. He was reared in the faith of the Lutheran Church, of which he remained a strict member.
John Daubenspecht, in 1816, settled on the run that empties into the Mahoning east of the town of Caldwell. He was said to have operated a mill at this place, sometimes called the "Narrow Sluice," from the fact that the creek is only 22 feet wide at this point.
He settled in what is now Mahoning township, Armstrong County, in 1816; he is known to have lived on what is now the Clarion County side of Red Bank creek as early as 1805. [HAC 1914, 847]
